Video Transcript – Seva: NQ Introduction to Sport & Fitness

My name is Seva and I study a level four Sport and Fitness course in Kelvin College.

I really enjoy how this course has both practical and theoretical aspects and teachers are very nice and supportive and knowledgeable.

Outside of college, I also do professional gymnastics taking part in different competitions. For example, now I'm preparing for Scottish Championships. I started when I was five.

All experience and knowledge that I get from this course also helps me with my gymnastics.

Next year I'm going to do fitness instructor and personal training course, which is new to this college. I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm originally from Ukraine, and I have done ESOL course here, and I was really enjoying it, and because of this, I decided to continue studying in Kelvin College. ESOL course really helped me with my English, so now I can study fitness and sport here.

Video Transcript – Sarah: HND Adventure Sports Coaching & Development

Hi I'm Sarah and I do the outdoor adventure course.

Today we're going to be skiing. It's really good because we get to try skiing before we go to France.

When you're skiing you work on your like pizza and like carving so when you like want to slow down you put your skis closer together at the front.

When you're carving it's like skis are closer together and you like tilt your hips and try and keep your body as straight as possible.

Right you can come up the slope with me.

Oh no I'm gonna miss one.

Right on we go up to the top. I'm going. Bye guys.

And turn. Up. And turn. Up. Don't hit Adam

Snowboarders spend half their time on the floor.

That was fun.

Video Transcript – Stephen: HN Adventure Sports Coaching and Development

Hi, my name is Stephen. I'm currently doing the HN Adventure Sports Coaching and Developing course.

It's been great. It's given me a real chance to learn how to better my coaching skills through various activities such as archery. I've been involved in archery. I've done it bits and pieces when I was little but really started getting into October 2023 and I've stuck with it.

After COVID a lot of our scout leaders who had permits decided to take that sort of chance to take a step back and we were left pretty bare in terms of what we could offer the kids.

I initially thought archery was something I could lead. I thought I need to be good at this before I lead this. The intention was only to really do it for a short period of time but I've really enjoyed it so I've stuck with it.

I'm a scout leader and we take the kids away doing various outdoor activities which is partly what got me interested in the course.

Running archery sessions as well is something that I really enjoy doing. I think it's really beneficial for the young people and adults.

The thing that interests me most about taking part in the Scottish student archery competition is that it gives me a chance to, for my own personal progression, take things to the next level for me.

When I was 18, there wasn't these kind of opportunities. I'm not the most athletic individual. It's good to have that opportunity this time round. I think being asked to represent the college feels great. It's always nice when someone thinks you're good enough to take part in these kind of things. So I'm going to try my best and see how I get on
