Course overview
Do you have a keen interest in art and design processes? Are you at the beginning of your creative journey?
Do you have the enthusiasm and motivation to expand on and develop your existing art & design skills?
This programme is aimed at you if you have an interest in Art & Design and you want to develop your skills to progress to next level courses and employment.
You will study a wide range of Art & Design subjects – traditional and digital – as well as developing your skills in written and spoken communication, sketchbook creation, portfolio building and self promotion.
What you will learn
You will undertake a wide range of units including:
- Drawing
- Painting
- Design
- Mixed Media
- Illustration
- Printmaking.
- Software Skills
National Progression Awards Drawing Skills, Painting, Visual Communications and Art & Design can be achieved on this course.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, however a keen interest in Art and Design is essential
You will be asked to upload a selection of art work to support your application. You maybe asked to attend an interview.
You must be 16 years or over at the start of the course commencement date.
For this course, if English is not your first language
- you need to have SQA ESOL National 5 (or equivalent, click here to see equivalent qualifications)
- If you do not have a formal ESOL qualification but your language skills meet this level, you should apply for your course and then contact our Admissions team to organise an internal language assessment here at the College.
Future prospects
With this qualification, you will receive priority consideration for NC Art & Design (L6) at Glasgow Kelvin College.
