The College held a highly successful Foundation Apprenticeship event at its Springburn Campus recently.
To recruit young people from our partner local authorities we invited parents and potential apprentices on campus to find out a bit more about how an FA provides the skills and experience to help them into their future career.
The event attracted an audience in excess of 40 people which was a great result. Supporting the event we had excellent representation from some of our valued employer partners including Urban Union, Scottish Water, MacTaggart Construction and Glasgow City Council, as well as Skills Development Scotland and Senior Curriculum Managers John Clarke and John McGregor who were on hand to chat with the audience and provide that all-important industry context
The stars of the show were, however, our current FAs - Chloe Sinet and Corie McSween along with Emma Rankin who are all Civil Engineering students. They each presented their experience of studying and working under the FA programme and highlighted the benefits of travelling this route in their learner journey.
Chloe said:
“It was really good to be able to share our experiences of the course with other people. The FA programme has been brilliant and given us a whole range of experiences that will hopefully help us in our future career “
Schools Liaison Manager – Foundation Apprenticeship, Alan Shields said of the event:
"We were delighted with the response on the night and the feedback we have received afterwards. The pupils are a credit to the college and they are a great example of how the FA programme can offer students a wide range of learning and career opportunities “
Well done to all those who were involved in the event and we’re looking forward to welcoming a new cohort of eager learners in our new academic year.
