Waste Management
Glasgow Kelvin College are working in partnership with a number of organisations to ensure that recycling, reusing and reducing waste are at the forefront of our approach to waste management.
The College has a successful partnership with Enva, who deliver, collect and report on the College’s general waste production and the amount of waste materials recycled. Since the start of the partnership in 2016, the impact has been highly positive, with feedback reports showing a rise in the percentage of waste material being recycled and not sent to landfill.
Free Sustainable Period Products Available
Kelvin College has a range of sustainable period products (such as menstrual cups, period pants, and a range of reusable pads) available to any student who requests them. Students can simply stop by the Student Association Offices at Springburn campus or email SShea@glasgowkelvin.ac.uk to arrange to pick up what is required.
The Scottish Government has an initiative to provide access to free sanitary products to learners within schools, further and higher education institutions. It is the world's first legislation to make it mandatory for all public institutions to provide sanitary products for menstruation including tampons and pads. It is important to the College that a range of sustainable period products are also available to students who wish to reduce their impact on the environment.
