At Glasgow Kelvin College, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all. We believe that everyone has the right to learn, work, and socialise in a safe space where LGBTQ+ students, staff, and visitors can be themselves, be visible, feel welcomed, and feel valued.
Our Commitment to LGBTQ+ Inclusivity
LGBT Youth Scotland Bronze Award: We are proud to be working with LGBT Youth Scotland and are actively working towards achieving the LGBT Youth Scotland Bronze Charter Mark. This demonstrates our dedication to LGBTQ+ inclusivity and our commitment to creating a supportive and welcoming environment for everyone.
Student Executive Team: If you are an LGBTQ+ student, you can speak to a member of the Student Executive Team who will ensure you have the support you need. We are here to listen, support, and advocate for your needs and rights.
LGBTQ+ Sub Group: We have a student-run LGBTQ+ Students Group, supported by the Student Association, available to all students. This group provides a safe and supportive space for our LGBTQ+ community and their allies to:
- Raise Awareness: Promote understanding and awareness of LGBTQ+ issues within the college.
- Increase Visibility: Celebrate and increase the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community.
- Celebrate Achievements: Highlight the accomplishments and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals.
- Foster Community: Bring people together to create a sense of belonging and mutual support.
Gender Expression and Identity
Pronouns Matter: We understand that gender expression and identity are important. Students and staff can request their pronouns to be respected and used correctly. You can check out information on the importance of pronouns at Pronouns Matter.
