Commitment to Sex Equality

At Glasgow Kelvin College, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment that promotes gender equality and eradicates sex discrimination. We strive to ensure that every individual, regardless of their sex or gender, feels valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential.

Our Comprehensive Approach to Sex Equality

Menopause Café

We are proud to introduce our Menopause Café, a groundbreaking initiative designed to provide a supportive and open space for discussing menopause. This café aims to:

  • Foster Open Conversations: Encourage open dialogue about menopause, breaking down taboos and fostering a culture of understanding and support.
  • Provide Practical Support: Offer practical advice and resources to help manage symptoms and navigate challenges related to menopause.
  • Build a Support Network: Create a community where individuals can share experiences, offer mutual support, and feel less isolated.

Gender-Based Violence Support

Our comprehensive support system for those affected by gender-based violence (GBV) includes:

  • Access to Counselling Services: Professional counselling and mental health support for those affected by GBV.
  • Reporting Mechanisms: Secure and confidential reporting systems, including the option to report anonymously.
  • Partnerships with External Organisations: Collaboration with organisations such as Rape Crisis Scotland and Women's Aid to provide extensive support and resources.

Equal Opportunities in Leadership

  • Closing the Gender Gap: Implementing initiatives aimed at closing the gender gap in positions, ensuring equitable representation at all levels of leadership.
