About the Support for Learning Department
At the Department of Support for Learning, we provide a variety of full-time courses tailored to students at SCQF Levels 1 to 4. Our programs are designed to foster independence and strengthen essential life skills for adults, with a particular focus on post-school transition. Additionally, we offer courses that help develop employability skills, frequently in connection with volunteering opportunities and external partnerships within the community.
Our staff are student focussed, experienced and look forward to working with you at one of our campuses (East End, Easterhouse)
How to Apply
Once we receive your application, we will invite you to attend an interview. During this interview, we will discuss your additional support needs and the level of assistance you may require while studying at college. Based on this information, our staff will determine the most appropriate course for you. If a place is available, you will receive a formal course offer.
Entry Requirements
Our entry requirements are dependent on the level at which the student is currently working. Our courses are designed to support both academic and social development, so our application and interview process focuses on assessing your suitability for the course. For our level 3 and 4 learners we would expect that they would be working towards independent travel, in order to complete their compulsory work placement. We are committed to providing the right support for each learner’s unique needs.

Support for Learning Courses
I prefer college to school, 4 years ago I couldn’t get from my home to college and now I have come a long way, Glasgow Kelvin College have helped me with my confidence and now I am doing a course which has put me on work placements and has prepared me for work I have worked alongside some great lecturers who have made me the person I am now. I am more resilient and mature
When I joined the Support for Learning department, I had no confidence in myself or with anyone, but the lovely staff members in the college and in the course had pushed me to do things I didn't think I could ever do. With the help from the level 4 course, I am now in a mainstream hospitality course which I didn't think I would ever get into, now I can think about my future
What I like most about SFL dept is that they are there for you to give you hand when you are struggling with coursework, and they are there for you when you are struggling with emotions or problems. Staff are easy to approach and have given me techniques to deal with stress
