Course overview
This course will fully prepare you for a craft apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating
The course is intended for anyone who wishes to prepare for a craft apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating.
Preparation for apprenticeship application and employability skills in general are key course aims.
What you will learn
In addition to a range of introductory Painting and Decorating units, you will also undertake units on
- Health & Safety,
- Access Platforms
- Construction Drawing
- Construction Numeracy.
- You will receive training towards CSCS testing.
Learners may be expected to engage with blended learning off campus.
Entry requirements
This course has no formal entry requirements, but applicants must have a genuine interest in the trade and have a desire to gain an apprenticeship on course completion.
For this course, if English is not your first language
- you need to have SQA ESOL National 5 (or equivalent, click here to see equivalent qualifications)
- If you do not have a formal ESOL qualification but your language skills meet this level, you should apply for your course and then contact our Admissions team to organise an internal language assessment here at the College.
Future prospects
While the pre-apprenticeship is in Painting and Decorating there are many transferable skills and attitudes gained throughout the progress of the course which students can and have employed to gain apprenticeships and other careers within construction sector.
