Our ESOL courses are for students who want to improve their English language skills in speaking, reading, writing, and listening. We deliver SQA qualifications at all levels.
Courses are available at the following levels:
- National 2 Literacies
- National 2 Beginner
- National 2 Elementary
- National 3 Pre-Intermediate
- National 4 Intermediate
- National 5 Stage 1 Intermediate Plus
- National 5 Stage 2 Upper Intermediate
You can also apply for Community ESOL classes on the ESOL Register which can be a pathway into college. College places are limited.
What you will learn
ESOL classes will help you to improve:
- listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills
- grammar and vocabulary
- pronunciation
- communication
You will also cover a variety of topics, for example:
- living in the UK
- working in the UK
- citizenship
- UK culture
You will be required to complete:
- regular homework
- oral and written progress tests in class
- formal assessments working towards an SQA ESOL qualification at your level.
We encourage students to become involved in cultural events throughout the year, some of which are organised by students. In addition, the college has a gym and sports facilities and an active Students’ Association
Entry requirements
After you have applied, we will contact you by email to invite you for a short interview and level test. This will help us to recommend the best class for you.
If you have a yellow test certificate, you should bring it to the interview.
Future prospects
ESOL students can progress to further ESOL at the next level, employment, vocational FE at various levels, Higher Education.
