Course overview

Train, move and perform with strength, style and stamina.

This exciting and physically demanding course blends dance performance, choreography and fitness training, giving you the creative and technical grounding needed for work or further study in both the performing arts and fitness industries.

You’ll train in Jazz, Contemporary and Commercial dance, while developing your understanding of fitness instruction, anatomy, nutrition and holistic wellbeing. Guided by industry-experienced tutors, you’ll work on a mix of creative and prescriptive projects that build your performance ability, body awareness and professional discipline.

The course is highly practical and physically intensive, featuring conditioning, leaps, turns, floor work, partnering, and choreography-based sessions designed to enhance both dance skill and physical fitness. A good level of stamina and capability is essential for full participation, and you’ll be supported to build strength, flexibility and endurance throughout.

This programme also introduces key professional practices including choreography, group instruction and holistic training — making it the perfect bridge to higher-level study in either Dance, Performing Arts or Fitness at Glasgow Kelvin College.

This course is ideal for:

Video Transcript – Amanda: NQ Dance with Fitness

Hi my name's Amanda and I'm one of the lecturers on our new NQ Dance With Fitness course.

So this is one of our studios over in Platform. Do you want to come in and have a look?

So this is where we do some of our dance classes. We've got our mirrors, our sprung floor and our ballet bars. We're in the middle of rehearsals just now for our up-and-coming show with the Performing Arts department which is I Love You You're Perfect Now Change.

So we've got some set going on but normally there's no set and it's a big open space which we love performing and rehearsing in.

Within the course you will study dance techniques such as jazz, contemporary and commercial dance. Also on the course you will do performance technique and you will do choreography.

You'll also do fitness classes such as exercise to music, conditioning and circuits as well as nutrition, anatomy and well-being, yoga and Pilates.

And this is our gym if you want to come in and have a little look. So in here we'll be doing our circuit classes, our exercise to music and our conditioning.
