Learn how to support and care for others while improving your English language and communication skills.
This full-time NQ Level 4 Care with ESOL course introduces you to the basic knowledge and skills needed to work in Health, Social Care, or Childcare. At the same time, you’ll receive support to develop your English (ESOL) skills.
You’ll learn about human development, care values, and social influences while taking part in practical learning such as First Aid and communication exercises. This course is an ideal first step if you want to study or work in the care sector in the future.
This course is ideal for:
- Students whose first language is not English
- Learners interested in working in health, childcare, or social care
- Those who want to build confidence in communication while learning about care work
- Learners planning to progress to higher-level care qualifications
What you will learn
You’ll study a mix of practical and theory-based topics that give you a strong foundation in care and communication, including:
- Human Development and Behaviour (Level 4) – understand how people grow and change
- Investigating Services Assignment (Level 4) – learn about health and care services in your community
- Social Influences (Level 4) – explore how society affects health and wellbeing
- Values and Principles (Level 4) – study the standards and ethics of care work
- First Aid (Level 4) – learn basic emergency response and safety skills
- Communication – improve speaking, listening, and writing for care settings
- ESOL for Employability (Level 5) – build English for work and study in the care sector

Learning combines classroom discussions, group projects, and reflective activities that help connect theory to real-life practice in order to build both your knowledge of the care industry and your English skills.
