Course overview
This new and unique two-year day release course meets the needs of the building services engineering sector. The course content and design reflects employer feedback and is purposely designed to provide multi-disciplinary learning and teaching in mechanical and electrical building services systems. Whilst design focussed, the course also includes scope to learn and develop practical skills such as commissioning of HVAC systems and 3D modelling and energy analysis using industry leading software such as CAD packages, Revit and IES.
The course consists of two Professional Development Awards (PDA) in 3D Modelling and Energy Performance Analysis and Design of Building Services in conjunction with other carefully chosen SQA HN units. This provides you with an SCQF Level 8 course at 120 SCQF Credit Points - equivalent to undergraduate year 2 on a building services engineering degree programme.
The course also includes provision to capture work-based learning with a focus on transferrable and essential skills to meet the requirements of Engineering Council Standards and professional registration.
You will become knowledgeable with methods relating to the design, installation, maintenance and management of mechanical and electrical BSE systems within buildings and understand the roles and responsibilities such a profession places on the consumption and management of both existing and future energy sources
