If you have a passion for business or business related subjects this course is ideal for you, especially if you are looking to launch your career in business or retail. It can also support you if you are looking to start your own business or to generally improve your work related skills and qualities.

The course will give you a clear understanding of the roles of business and administration in a range of industries and sectors.

This course is designed to deliver a broad spectrum of Business and Employability Skills including customer service, technologies and finance.

Entry requirements

  • Three National 5 qualifications, including English at grade C or above (or equivalent)   

         OR

  • An appropriate NQ/NC at level 5 in a relevant subject (including Communications at L5)    

For this course, if English is not your first language

  • If you do not have a formal ESOL qualification but your language skills meet this level, you should apply for your course and then contact our Admissions team to organise an internal language assessment  here at the College.

Applicants without formal qualifications are encouraged to apply and will be assessed on an individual basis.

Career Opportunities

After successfully completing this course, you will have the skills for a junior entry level role in business, such as a general office role, human resources, finance, accounting, marketing, customer service, retail sector or to assist in starting up your own business.

Business-Related Roles:

  • Entry level Administrative Assistant: Support the day-to-day operations of a business by managing schedules, communication, and office tasks
  • Finance Assistant: Helps handle a company’s day-to-day financial matters.
  • Customer Service Representative: Work with customers to provide information, resolve issues, and build relationships.
  • Retail Assistant: Develop business and management skills in a retail environment, handling inventory, customer interactions, and team coordination.
  • Marketing Assistant: Support marketing campaigns, research, and content creation.

Future prospects

You could develop your skills further by progressing to a Higher Education college to study a Higher National Diploma/Certificate (HND/C) or University (may allow year 1 direct entry).
